The exhibition and book launch SIDAI “ Beauty” will take place on March 23, 2025 // 2:00 p.m. in the greenhouses at Schoneveld Breeding in Wilp.

Enveloped in soft, translucent Japanese Kozo-Washi paper, here you will find a series of extraordinary plant portraits.
Each plant in the picture embedded in its own entourage of draped fabrics, concealing something and adding something.
The plant is not simply shown but partly hidden. It emerges, as it were, from an environment, in a certain light.
This takes us away from ordinary looking. It immediately starts doing something else with it.
Themes of concealment and discovery constantly recur in my work. As do change and impermanence.
Japanese culture has strongly influenced me.
Beauty does not perish - but every moment as time passes it changes.
There is a synthesis of sensitivity between man and flora.
This book is not just for looking. It is a total experience. The pages of the book want to be “be-grasped,” just like the plants, leaves and flowers in a garden, where the optical is only a part of possible experiences.
I am always searching for my “Hortus Conclusus,” my piece of earth, my home.
This search runs historically, geographically and genealogically through my artistic work and will never be completed.
